CURRENT sermon series
A son at rock bottom, collapsed in rags, buries his head in the warm embrace of his father’s weathered hands. A father welcomes his lost son home, pouring out his love with lavish, sacrificial generosity. In the shadows, the elder brother stands stiff and distant, equally lost as he wrestles with a hardened heart. One of Jesus’ most famous parables captured in one of Rembrandt’s most famous paintings is an invitation to see ourselves in every figure on that canvas: the rebellious younger son, the resentful older brother, and the compassionate father. Because within each of us stirs a deep longing for home and a joyful feast of celebration in being found.
UNTIL ZERO PEOPLE REMAIN
UNCHANGED BY JESUS
The Story Church is part of a network made up of four churches that share the vision for zeros in our community. The Zero Collective is a family of churches fully sold out to the mission of seeing ZERO people in the Greater Grand Rapids area living unchanged by Jesus. This “only God” vision is what drives us and keeps us up at night. It shapes how we do church. It’s why we put disciple-making over everything else. It’s what inspires us to engage our city in new and creative ways. Together, we can be more than just a network of churches. We can be movement of multiplication and a catalyst for Kingdom expansion.
These 5 ZEROS are what guides everything we do:
